Motivation is a very important driving force that leads to better performance and higher productivity. Obviously, when we talk about appreciation and motivation, we are not just referring to your boss appreciating your hard work at home but the same practice should be done at schools from an early age. Teachers understand that the feeling of overwhelming stress can lead to depression in students and if they don’t have anything to work towards, they can easily burnout. In order to keep the kids motivated and have the feeling of accomplishment, schools prepare student of the year certificates. These certificates are very similar to the employee of the month certificates that companies hand over to the most hardworking or punctual employees in workplaces. There are different types of certificates i.e. most punctual student of the month, most hardworking student of the month, most creative student of the month, or most generous student of the month but one certificate is above all these because after the entire year, only one student gets to receive it and it’s the highest honor that an educational institute can give to the students.

Key Elements of a Student of the Year Certificate:

  • Bold title of the certificate
  • Full name of the student
  • Class and grade of the student
  • Explain the accomplishment of the student
  • The date on which the certificate is awarded
  • The person who gave the certificate

Modern Trends of a Student of the Year Certificate:

  1. Use a bold and elegant format:
When we think of these certificates and awards, we quickly think of the certificates that are given to kids and young students to keep them motivated but in reality, these certificates are given to adults and even older students i.e. the ones doing their research in universities. Because this certificate can be used for many ages, it’s important to use an elegant and sophisticated style with moderate colors and little to no fancy designs on the borders.
  2. Add full details of the student:
The top of the certificate includes the main title ‘student of the year certificate’ and below that there is the information about the student. The title of the certificate is kept bold and bigger than the entire content on the certificate. While adding the details of the student, make sure to add the full name of the student, and his father’s name in some cases is also required. Then the next part is to add the grade or class of the student i.e. kindergarten, middle school, or higher school level.
  3. Include the achievement in bold colors:
There can be many reasons for awarding someone a student of the year certificate. For instance, you can give the certificate for being punctual, for getting an ‘A’ grade in all subjects, or for starting an initiative for betterment of the society, and whatever the achievement is, it should be mentioned clearly on the certificate to appreciate the key accomplishment of the student.
  4. Mention the date of the certificate:
Usually, a certificate that is awarded to a student is for the entire year which means this title is held by the student for one year, and next year, the same award is given to a different student. For this purpose, it’s important to mention the date on which the certificate was given to the student and also mention the year for which the award was given i.e. certificate was awarded on 2nd Jan 2020 for the achievement of the 2019 year.
  5. Signature of the authorized person:
Usually when a student of the year certificate is given, it’s authorized by a senior member of faculty in the school i.e. headmaster or dean of the college. Whoever the authorized person is, his or her name should be mentioned clearly at the end of the certificate along with his signature. If possible, you can also add a stamp on the bottom to make the certificate more official and formal.
